I often recommend this home treatment kit to my patients for use in between minimal invasive procedures and for a regular anti-ageing booster treatment. In it, I combine growth hormone-containing serum SkinMedica TNS Essential Serum, SkinMedica TNS Ceramide Treatment Cream and a Titanium home roller by Medik8 (comes with special sterilising solution). The microneedle roller helps the growth hormones penetrate the skin - a technique inspired by in-clinic medical needling - currently the hottest rejuvenating procedure on the planet!
Use this 0.3mm version, if your skin is comparatively thick and resistant to pain or if you are not new to microneedle rollers. Use the 0.2mm version, if you have thin, delicate or pain sensitive skin or if you are just beginning your home-based skin needling treatment.
Suitable for normal and dry skin.
Not suitable for oily and combination skin.

How to use:
- Use once to three times per week (allow at least 3 days in between treatments for the first 2-3 weeks)
- Use in the evening, as you will notice some skin redness after needling. This usually subsides within a few hours.
- Sterilise the needle roller with the needle roller sterilising solution before and after each use. Allow to dry.
- Cleanse skin. Pat skin dry.
- Visually divide the skin into sections (e.g. forehead, left cheek, right cheek, right hand, left hand, décolletage, etc.). Using a constant, gentle rolling motion, roll the microneedle roller 10 times back and forth over each skin section.
- Apply both components of SkinMedica Essential Serum onto the back of your hand first. Blend together and apply to all treated skin areas.
- Wait for 1-2 min., then apply the SkinMedica Ceramide Treatment Cream on top, to all treated skin areas
- Clean roller with hot water, then sterilise using the needle roller sterilising solution. Return to case, dry
- I recommend that you trial the entire procedure, including serum, on your inner forearm first, to test your skin's tolerance
- Make sure never to lie the needle roller on its needles, but to always keep it stored in its holding box. This will prevent the needles from becoming flattened and blunt which would increase the risk of skin damage

Benefits:
Professional medical needling is currently one of the hottest procedures offered by clinics. There is now very good scientific evidence that using needles of at least 1.0-1.5mm length to puncture the skin can increased production of collagen and other dermal proteins. Medical needling rejuvenates the skin by stimulating growth hormones and attracting skin cells responsible for remodelling the skin's proteins. However, these more invasive needling devices used can, of course, only be operated by professionals in a clinical setting.
This home-use kit attempts to mimic some of the effects of a medical needling procedure. In this case, the roller is equipped with hundreds of extremely fine, high quality titanium needles (thinner in fact than your own hair). At only 0.3mm long, they cannot puncture the deeper layers of the skin, but they can open tiny channels in the horny outer layer to allow the serum's growth hormones and other active ingredients to penetrate to the living cells. Growth hormones in particular are very large molecules which have great difficulty penetrating the skin's naturally protective epidermal barrier. Needling temporarily breaches this barrier, greatly increasing the efficiency of anti-ageing actives, before closing again almost instantly.
In addition to its growth hormone-based TNS Recovery Complex, SkinMedica Essential Serum contains a potent mix of antioxidants, peptides and other rejuvenating cosmeceutical ingredients. Keep in mind that skin care products may react differently in different people when penetrating into the skin. For this reason I recommend to treat a little trial area on your inner forearm first. While this does not garantee that other skin areas will react the same way, it is a good indication. If there is any concern or unwanted reaction, please consult your doctor. We strongly recommend to arrange an appointment with Dr Stefanie Williams or our cosmetician in clinic first to be demonstrated the correct way of using this device.
Do not share your needle roller with anyone else. Do not use on broken skin or open wounds. Do not use if pregnant or under the age of 18 years. Do not use if you are taking blood thinning medication, have blood clotting problems or are a haemophiliac. Do not use on the following skin conditions: active acne outbreaks, active skin infections, eczema, psoriasis or other chronic conditions, rosacea, actinic (solar) keratoses, keloid or raised scars, raised moles or warts.
Allow 3 day intervals between treatments for the first 2-3 weeks. Never use more than once daily. If used more than once a day the microneedle roller may cause more inflammation than is aimed for and might even cause damage.
Replace your microneedle roller regularly (approximately every 2-3 months).
